Representing Australia at ISCM Festival 2023

I’m thrilled that my piece Nigel has been selected to represent Australia at the International Society for Contemporary Music’s 2023 World New Music Days Festival. The ISCM is a leading forum for contemporary music and has staged the World New Music Days Festival over 90 times since 1923 in countries around the world. This year’s festival will be hosted by South Africa in November and December.

Earlier this year, the Australian Music Centre put Nigel forward as part of a six piece submission to this year’s festival, from which the festival organisers selected it as the programmed Australian work. It’s one of the honours of my career so far and a real ‘pinch me’ moment.

Nigel was commissioned in 2021 by Omega Ensemble as part of their inaugural CoLAB: Composer Accelerator Program, and I’m really grateful to the ensemble for making this possible. Read more in Limelight Magazine.
